What’s the Deal with Commercials

Last year, we (my crazy group of friends) were planning a trip to Gulmarg. We all are working and didn’t get much time to uproot ourselves. So to avoid any inconvenience or hassle during our trip, we decided to plan our trip and do all the bookings in advance. While doing so we got stuck with the hotel booking, as every website was showing different results which created more confusion.

Honestly it was so annoying spending so many hours just to find the best deal. Especially, when there are so many options to choose from. We tried reaching out to some of the hotels where few of our friends stayed earlier but even then they were not offering any good deals. We were so frustrated and annoyed after wasting a good amount of time surfing different websites and making phone calls.

No one was able to decide whether we should do the booking through call or online because we were unable to identify the best deal for us. There were many things bothering us that time, just to mention few of them:

·         If the hotel was good, prices were out of budget
·         If it’s under budget it’s far from the city
·         Uncertainty about the food and ambience of the hotel.

Suddenly, Anil one of my  friend suggested to try “Trivago”, that reminded me this ad where this not so good looking guy (I mean he looks like a regular next door guy not any model in ads :P) who was explaining how “Trivago gives you the best hotel prices in comparison to more than 100+ available”. Don’t believe me see this image or Check this out again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eA5MNQ4f1uc

I mean generally we always see some known personality to make a brand impression. Anyways, just because he looked different like regular people we see around I used to listen to what he was saying. Even I realized that not only how he looked but the
statements he used like “Trivago does the work for you” (Check this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8JZ2Otpgh0) were so impressive, catchy and connecting. What I like the most about the ad is it easily captures all the worries of a traveller who was looking for hotels, that anyone would go and try the website. Some of them I am mentioning below:

  1.       Compare hotel prices
  2.       Online booking
  3.       Option to search according to you budget
  4.       Customer reviews
  5.       It gives you discount offers

After spending many hours, searching for the right deal we decided to check out “Trivago”. Surprisingly, “Trivago did the work for us” :P we actually found our deal there in just some time. I like the feature of setting your budget, check out customer ratings and choose the best offer. It includes everything at one place and this ad right away gives you all the information. So even if you haven’t visited the website, you will get to what you’ll find there.

I appreciate the straight forward approach they came up with.
Friends, I would like to hear your point of view on this ad anything which you like or dislike. Also, if you have any experiences/stories about this or any other ads, please share with me.
